CROWN AND BRIDGE
Crown
A crown is the same thing as a cap.
A tooth requires a crown when strength is needed, or when there is too much tooth missing for a filling to restore the tooth. The Crown wraps around the outside of the whole tooth, protecting it from further damage.
Crowns are either metal (gold), porcelain or a combination of the two. Dr. Boyd and Dr. Messerly will discuss with you which type of crown would be best suited for your situation.

Bridge
A bridge is two or more crowned teeth connected together with one or more false teeth in between the crowned teeth.
A bridge is a great option to replace a missing tooth. The bridge is permanently cemented in place and therefore is much less bulky than the alternative of a removable partial denture.
